As 2025 moved into the second half of the year, I started thinking about new technology services that could serve remote Australia. I didn't want to just resell straight off the shelf, I wanted it to be something that I could design, build and deploy which is unique to Native Node. After some months of pondering, I have landed on an off-grid (self sufficient) cellular repeater and Wi-Fi mesh with a Starlink internet back-haul. Small enough to be brought in via 4x4, meaning it can be deployed anywhere in Australia and self sufficient for a number of days with solar and battery back up.

The challenges it could solve

Families and businesses in rural and remote Australia know connectivity issues well. Most battle on and get by during the daily grind, however, frustration and failure can really start to show its head when these families and business have network sensitive events or timelines.

These events draw more people to an area then usual which cause congestion on the mobile network and difficultly spreading internet over a vast area. The node aims to boost the mobile signal via a cell repeater and create a vast WiFi mesh with enough bandwidth to handle multiple devices connected at once.

The nodes

The plan is to have 1-3 nodes, a master and slaves which can be meshed with the master for scalability. The nodes are weather proof for the harsh Australian environment, are self sufficient with their own solar power supply and battery station.

Repeater:

Telstra mobile service ==> Yagi antenna ==> Cel-Fi Go ==> Panel Antenna ==> Devices

Internet:

Internet ==> Starlink ==> Router ==> PoE Switch ==> Long Range AP ==> Devices

Moving forward
